Chess.com has a good elo system and a coach system with bot
I wonder which online players are better? The chess.com players or the Lichess players on an average elo or else Hikaru would only count for chess.com.
There are pros and cons to both. To your points:
1. I'm fine throwing some money chess.com's way each year. Running this site can't be cheap and overall they are doing a lot for the chess community. And if you don't have the extra money to give, you're not forced to.
2. Sure, if you aren't a paid chess.com member, you're not going to get unlimited puzzles or full access to game reviews, but there are other online resources out there for you to use. I like the convenience of it all being on this website, but it's not like you have no other options.
3. I really like chess.com's interface - it doesn't look cluttered to me, it looks modern. I also enjoy being able to have user icons and a nice looking profile page. Even if some people add backgrounds to it that make it impossible to read.
4. The community here is great. Yeah, there's some bad apples but that's going to happen anywhere.
they offer different experiences and cater to different preferences.
