Hi friends, i have a question:

Which opening is best? 1.e4 or 1.d4? Perhaps 1.Nf3 or 1.c4 ha? 1.e4 is strong and sharp, also it was Fischer's favourite. But nowadays, every GMs are choosing 1.d4. i can't understand which is best. Please help me.

Also, i wanna knowing which strategy is best? Tactical and sharp mentality or positional and strategical game?

Man it's all a matter of taste.  I'm an e4 player myself because I prefer the systems that come in response to e4.  GM's chose both d4 and e4.  Of course you already know there is no best strategy, but what the position on the board demands... I think when we are all first starting out, everyone wants a tactical and aggressive style, but then you play stronger players only to realize that a positional and strategic framework is necessary in order to play a tactical and wild game lol

I tend to like D4 for simple reason that there isn't so many complicated variations and transpositions to play off. When ever you play E4 you have to be ready for E5 or different defences... (French, Sicilian, gambit lines) I think E4 is for GM or Masters. E4,E5 i think brings about more sharper, faster and tactical play. I as white like to Play a queens pawn line or Gambit line. My reponse for E4 is a Schivinegen sicilian, and my response to D4 as white is the kings Indian Defence.  It's worked awesome for me so far because if i find someone who really doesn't know the line very well... i end up demolishing them. LOL Again this is just my opinion...

1. a4!!!

Just kidding.  personally i like d4 because there are way too many lines to study when preparing to play e4.

It's funny I feel the same way about 1. d4!  Wayyyy too much to study for (although there is more theory from 1. e4 lol

its said that the last thing that will ever be discovered about chess is the best 1st move

1. e4 is probably the best opening, but I doubt it gives White a forced win.

e4 is arising very tactical positions but d4 is more positional positions. If you like tactical game you can play 1.e4
