well often the tournaments are split into an open, and say a under 1700. Im over 1700 but i see many lower players playing the open. possibly because they dont care about rating/placing but just want a chance to play stronger players and maybe learn something?
At least thats what ive gathered.

just play man, whether they are higher or lower ranked. i really dont care if i'm playing a 800 or 1800 ranked player. every game demands something from you and gives you experience in return. at least thats how i feel about it. and i know what your sayin in tourney, i just won one by winning all 5 rounds without a loss and one guy was 1570 and another approx. 1100, and even then, all games were good and i got no complaints.
Does anyone else have this happen to them in there tournament scene. lately when I go to play or simply visit a tournament I've noticed that the sections are increasingly declineing in strength with everyone trying to play the "BIg Boys" in U1800 sections you'll rarly see someone rated passs 1650! yet in the U2000 section you see a bunch of 1600 this or 1700 that and a few (3 or 4) 1800s or 1900s thrown in. Its like a epidemic with everyone trying to play one section stronger each tournament I onced entered a reserve section (U1700) when I was in my 1500s and I was the top seed!! it hasn't been like this lately but a few months ago it was heavily liked this does this happen often anywhere else.
