Hello,

I am trying to reach 2000 Fide Rating. At the moment I am between 1700-1800. I will use three books to study:

Chess strategy for the Club Player by Grooten

A game collection (Not sure which one, maybe a book about Alekhine/Capablanca...)

A tactic book. Here I am not quite sure which one. I thought about Encyclopedia of chess combinations, Combinational motifs by Blokh, woodpecker method or Neistadt's Improve your chess tactics.

I think the first one is maybe too advanced but how about the other tactic books? Could you give me a rating range for these books?

Although I’m a weakling compared to you, I’ve gotten use out of the Woodpecker Method, and according to the book itself it can be useful even for aspiring GM’s if you utilize all the 1000+ exercises in each cycle of the method.

The GM’s who wrote the book used the method in their training themselves, and had good results, so I think it’s safe that it’s not too advanced for you.
