Liking V2 is directly related to age, I think older people definitely don't want to change to V3. Just a random thought, no offense intended.
I like V2. As in the Star Wars I liked R2-D2, it was so good that they didn't come up with R3-D3... 
I assume staff members vote as well...
I think v3 is better for the majority, because you can play many different variations.
For stronger chess players I think v2 was much better, because v3 dramatically reduces the freedom to make suitable seeks in live chess, and also there might be players out there that you want to play, and who want to play with you, but the system makes sure it wont happen.
Version 3 is much improved. I couldn't go back!
