who else reports people for abandoning or quitting

People that just leave the game without resigning need to be reported. Be a man and resign don’t just leave the game and make people sit there and wait for the time to tock down. Everyone needs to set a precedence and report people for quitting / stalling when they abandon the game when they know they will lose . Im Not talking about at the beginning of the game where it aborts if they don’t make a move I’m talking about being disrespectful and just leaving without resigning

Everyone does. It's a bannable offense (or at least, it's supposed to be).

Verwarr

Is it bannable? From what I heard for people that stalling or abandoning the game get played with player that have the same tendency as them and do not get banned, maybe wrong, though.

I don't think the sanctions for stalling are strict enough. Apparently people who repeatedly stall/abandon games are penalised and prevented from playing again immediately, they have to wait a while before they get matched with another opponent. But I'd like to see more serious sanctions. I don't advocate an outright ban, but maybe a suspension, a week to begin with then 2 weeks the second time.

People waste their of time and mine by not resigning when dead lost. They are stopping themselves having further fun or improvement. It doesn't annoy me, rather it surprises me. I just do something else while the clock runs down. If you meant abandonment, that's another annoying thing as it takes longer to resign (if it activates the auto-resign feature that is. If not then the clock can run all the way down, which is a nuisance). Stalling is much worse than abandonment though in my opinion.

There just needs to be a revolution of people reporting tho they do it cuz no one says anything

I agree. I report. I never abandon games. I always resign.

I also favor much stronger penalties for stalling, as a player of the 10 minute game. One opponent made me wait 8 minutes yesterday. That person did not resign, and he did not abandon the game either. He made a deliberate choice to keep the game session active just to make me wait 8 minutes for the next game.

I agree, again, that the chess.com team is not taking stalling and abandonment seriously enough. It adds to up to a lot of wasted time for us players that bother to follow the rules.

Please take action chess.com team.

I used to report people for abandoning but then…

Verwarr

Always, but I don't know if chess.com takes it seriously or not.

Abandoning is the biggest disrespect

RubberSoul54
I can understand stalling, but abandoning can happen because someone just loses their connection. So the latter would be unfair. It still counts as a win so just move on.
MrPawn9999
I hate when that happens that should be a bannable decision offence and chess.com should look in to it. If ur gonna give up at least resign

Sportsmanship on Chess.com
At Chess.com, we encourage players to be kind and demonstrate good sportsmanship during their games. Our Sportsmanship Policy outlines expected behaviors, ensuring a respectful and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Players are expected to avoid the following actions:

Intentional disconnection: Do not disconnect during games to disrupt play.

Stalling: Avoid making your opponent wait unnecessarily by stalling the game.

Frivolous game abortion: Do not abort games simply because you don't want to play as Black, or for similar reasons. (Note: Chess.com has implemented a limit on the frequency of game abortions. Please abort only when necessary.)

If your account is flagged for consistently violating our Sportsmanship Policy, your ability to play will be restricted. You will be required to wait five minutes between games, including aborted games.

So feel free to report them! And they will go for bad sportsmanship! Thanks

I do. Every...single...time. and I block them. Life's too short to waste time playing pouty poor sports

brenbrenx

And to the guy that said sometimes it could be a lost connection: yes, and chess.com can review that and deem it excusable. It's better than letting a pouty pouty poor sport to keep on keeping on

SoCalSmoker420

I agree it’s terrible to just sit there and let the time run down or abandon just resign . Over the board people don’t just walk away

I report every single south american player I play, Im not a racist or have anything against people from south america, but in blitz, these dudes from brazil and argentina play like machines every single time, super fast and accurate, anytime I face brazilians or argentine people, it is a guarenteed loss pretty much every single time
