If Magnus will stay no 1 in another ten years, then the question might be relevant.

Still, Fischer is in chess heaven with the chess gods. Only his games remain on earth.

Until Carlsen has done what Kasparov has done, GK is still the best.

From 1986 until his retirement in 2005, Kasparov was ranked world No. 1 for 225 out of 228 months. His peak rating of 2851 achieved in 1999, was the highest recorded until being surpassed by Magnus Carlsen in 2013. Kasparov also holds records for consecutive professional tournament victories and Chess Oscars.

You can make a case that he hasnt even done what Karpov has:

160 first-place finishes.

102 total months at world number one is the second longest of all-time, behind only Garry Kasparov.

World champion from 1975 to 1985.

fabelhaft

Carlsen is only 27... Impressive enough that he already has been #1 for 94 months once the next rating list is published, and it doesn't look as if that will change soon. He may have four title matches won already before he is the same age Fischer was when he won his first Candidates match (the year before he quit chess). Maybe top 5 among the greatest ever already, but I wouldn't put him higher than that at this point.

Nothing wrong with an opinion, until it interferes with facts.

Magnus is product of the computer age.  Send him back to the 1800's and Morphy destroys him.

Not even. yes he is apart of the computer age; but he has stated in an interview that he plays like the older generations using no engine. That's why alot of his combimations are unique because they are from using his own creativity.
