    Sorry, but which part is a misconception? That Catalan is a language not a dialect? That it's spoken by around 10 million people? That it's as ancient as English or Spanish?

    I am voting for Kerry Shirts aka as "The Backyard Professor" as the best in the world.  He started his chess career by losing his first couple of games in order to lull his opponents into a false of security.

    Shatranj and chess are related, but very dissimilar. 

    Shatranj is what chess is called today in Hindi, Urdu and Persian [and Chaturanga or Sathurangam in some other Indian / Turkic languages], though it had different rules in the past.
