Who is the best chess player of all time ?vote here !

Kasparov will win. Last time, it was close. This time, I predict Kasparov will win by +3 or more.
I was pretty conservative. He ended up winning 8.5-1.5!

Kasparov would destroy Short, he's proven time and again he's superior.
Kasparov can see so far ahead it's impossible for a normal person to see as far as Kasparov does, and so wide too!

Botvinnik won the rematch against Tal. But he did take advantage of his temporarily defective creative faculties. Maybe Tal had too much sugar or smoking?

Only one vote needed, from Lasker's very close friend and the man who wrote the foreword to Lasker's autobiography: Lasker's close friend and debating partner, Albert Einstein.
Emanuel Lasker was World Chess Champ for 27 years (1894-1921) was and is the greatest ever. In his 50+ years of professional chess (including when he was just a mere master) only eight top players ever pinned at least two losses upon him (Chigorin, Bird, Showalter, Tarrash, Marshall, Capablanca, Alekhine, and Steinitz . . . all 8 played for the world championship at one time or other; the last three holding the World Championship themselves; and Marshall's two wins occurring twenty-six years apart with the last one when Lasker was 72 within months of death). By the way, Bobby Fischer once wrote an infamous article in which he deliberately left Lasker off his "12 Greatest Chess Players in World History" list. Fischer, a noted anti-semite, called Laker a "semi-clever old Jew" when asked years later about the omission of a 27-year world champion from his list, while including the man Lasker defeated in 1894 to become World Champion. Fischer explained that Lasker waited to play Steinitz until "Steinitz was no longer Steinitz." Apparently he didn't realize that Steinitz was also Jewish.
Lasker was a noted philosopher, and wrote several books on mathematics and discovered several key math principles. Unfortunately Kampf (Struggle) his philosophy book 's name was almost the same title that was chosen for Adolf Hitler's notorious Mein Kampf! Einstein and Lasker both complained that every thought about Lasker's father and the best friend who saved Einstein's life in a mountaineering incident had become sheer hell for both of them because the name "Adolf" had become so troublesome for Jews.

Botvinnik won the rematch against Tal. But he did take advantage of his temporarily defective creative faculties. Maybe Tal had too much sugar or smoking?
Tal was sick during that match and had been advised not to play.

Of all time? A Timelord, I guess.
Doubtful. He can't even set up the board correctly (White on right).

Absolutely NO VOTE needed: Einstein's close friend: Emanuel Lasker, World Chess Champ for 27 years was and is the greatest. In his 50 years of professional chess only seven players ever pinned at least two losses upon him.
There was no FIDE back then to tell him he must defend the title. His matches with Tarrasch and Schlechter were very close and while he tried scheduling a match with Rubinstein (who I think would have won) the Great War made that plan impossible.
Yes, Lasker was a great player but the best ever? Kasparov was more active during his 20 years against much stronger opposition (Short, Karpov, Timman, Anand, Shirov and others) and his loss to Kramnik was a genuine upset in the same grain as Euwe defeating Alekhine.
Garry Kasparov because:
He got much faster to his limits than Fischer
Fischer was really determined to win the title, but after that he never played again, so it's just one great performance in order to get the title.
Lastly, we still have to wait what Carlsen will do. You cannot immediately say that he is the best. He still has to prove it.
