Who is the best chess player of all time ?vote here !

I keep changing my mind on this. I'll go with Kasparov.
I agree it is premature to give it to Carlsen. Time will tell.

Yeah, Morphy was ahead of his time, but time passed him by around 1890. The best human player, the player with the all-time highest rating, is Magnus Carlsen.
If this were a discussion of who is greatest, then considerations such as how long he held the title would matter. But the best ever is easy to work out.

Thrillerfan is awesome !!!!!
Yeah, but is choice in sports teams is specious at best.

Bobby Fischer.
Of today's players, I like Hikaru Nakamura.
And then there's always Deep Blue, which according to Kasparov, was indeed a human player.

Specious... I suppose a Pats fan would know quite a bit about specious.
Five words:
Tom Brady
Aaron Hernandez
Spygate
My apologies about derailing this thread with NFL trash talk.

Not surprised the Patriots are cheating to win, not the first time they've done it after all. Same way I wasn't surprised when it turned out Alex Rodriguez never stopped using performance enhancing drugs. Cheaters cheat.

Here is interesting list.

Great Alexander Alekhine: lonely giant against the whole world, deep chess philosopher, extravagant artist, detailed analysts, unpredictable innovator, chess truth seeker - both classical and hypermodern, mightiest intellect difficult to fully understand, strongest personality in chess ever.
