You just have to have more control. I never talk about religion or politics. Moderators never delete my commentsLaughing

trysts

See, there you go again. You just have no self-control with your imaginationLaughing

bigpoison

I, too, want a God.

Where do you go about getting such a thing?  The Wal-Mart?

MyCowsCanFly

I'm afraid of that smoting thing.

trysts

Anyone or anything can be a god. Aren't  Carlsen/Kasparov/Fischer chess gods?

See how easy it is to get back on topicLaughing

You figure if someone else is being smote (smitten? smited? smelted?) you're safe?

Am refusing to put any idols on a pedestal here and worship them. (with the possible exception of Capablanca)

Lightning strkes not once but twice thereby smiting the arrogant unexpectedly.

I try not to, but if someone is insulting the God I believe I will defend my beliefs, if you guys do not like that  then do not insult my God.

I pause to note the irony of the Russian defender of religion vs the Texas atheist.

Now, carry on.

It's Anand who is very quick since start of his career. This signifies a true genius. He has proved the same by defending his world title most of the time, he is champion in all format.

woodpusha

I would say B. Fischer before he went crazy. I don't have to defend my answer on this one...he proved it time and time again against the Russians.

niftyji

@HurricaneMichael1 there might be chances that I am biased still an honest approch is very much required before any write off. I love Fischer, but he did not last long. Kasparov in my view was a trained genius.

@HurricaneMichael1  I have always thought that Kasparov and Bobby Fischer were like evil brothers from separate nations. Bobby the dirty, maniacal, evil genius, and Kasparov... the clean shaven, astute, professional well trained machine. Yet, I feel they are both on the same level.....In this scenario however, I could only pick one.

urdhiren is no more biased than the american fischer worshipers...  Fischer, the racist coward who was too scared to face Karpov.  For good reason, Karpov would have crushed fischer.  The sign of a truly elite WC is his ability  to defend his WC and this puts fischer at the bottom of the list.

My vote is for Kramnik, he defeated Kasparov.

You act as if it's only Americans who think Fischer is the greatest.  There are countless people from other countries who also believe that...even in this topic.  PS I think Kasparov is the greatest.

ChessCooler

it depends on how you compare them to the other chess players of their period so Paul Morphy beause he was better than anyone in his time period

ChessCooler

comparatively if you gave paul morphy 2 years to catch up on all the computers and new opening theory all the other greats had, there is a very good argument that he would easily surpass them.

beardogjones

I agree. Norman Who is the greatest chess player of all time.
