While he is not the best, Hikaru. Carlsen is the best player in the world. For someone to beat him, they need to cause problems, you can't beat carlsen by being solid. For that reason I take Naka

I thought Karjakin's chances were pretty good after round 8 of his match until he finally lost the match on tiebreaks.
But yes the candidates format is a bad one. And it is unlikely Wesley So will be in a world chess championship match in 2018 even if he is the best player to challenge Carlsen. It is sad seeing so many of the top older players missing their chances due to a poor qualifier system.

Kasparov, in his prime. Although Bobby is my favorite chess hero, I have to admit Gary was the deeper thinker. I studied both their best games back in the 1980's and concluded Gary had a slight edge. I suspect Gary, who taught Anand simply allowed him to be champ.
Magnus, however, based on his own assertion, has seemingly super powers as far as chess is concerned.
