I quite recently returned to chess after an almost 40 year break and was quite surprised how much stronger, well principled and knowledgeable even a 1500 player was today.
I put this down largely to the quality of easily digestible coaching material put together tirelessly by strong IMs and GMs. Streamers, through their constant effort for quite low reward, have massively improved the strength and quality of lower club players - a Grandmaster in your own home - for free.
Relatively puny players calling the likes of those voted for soulless makes me shake my head at the lack of appreciation.
