WHO TAUGHT YOU HOW TO PLAY CHESS

In 1968, If I'm not wrong when the name of Bobby Fisher started to appear in the news here in Venezuela, we joined in my neighbour to buy one chess set. We learn how to play and we got the "chess'fever" when Bobby Fisher won the world's championship in 1972.

Knight2c4 was the winning move, bat girl, Russell Price's middle name isn't Lee.  But good try anyway, he ran a chess club in town,  William Russell Price was his name.  Again I truly think it was a lucky catch by me, but he was really really really good.  He's retired now from competitive play, and lives in a country villa way away from anything.

So did I.. That was ten years ago. I just took up playing again last month when I discovered chess.com.

I learned from the afterschool program at my gradeschool.  One of the supervisors  was a really hot college girl who would play with me.  I think I was 12-13.

My brother taught me how the pieces move when I was five. However, because he was such a--let's just say jerk since this is a family friendly site--jerk, I was put off by the game. So, it would be most accurate to say that I am finally being taught how to play by the King and the people on this site.

I envy those of you who had a loving father to teach you the game--my dad didn't play--as opposed to a malevolent older brother.

my dad didn't know how to play either but he encouraged me to start playing chess. i learned with the computer as told in my past comment. lol

You all sound great!!! The question is who is the brain behand what we call chess today and while is it called by the name is there any relationship tired to it as of the ages we may not be able to count.

Your opinion is welcomed.

I'll be honest. My leaning chess was a mistake. I was with A friend, we got bored, and he showed me how the pieces move. He taught me no strategy, however, and I lost to Scholar's Mate for my first game.

My brother-in-law taught me when I was about 10 (or perhaps younger) and he and my sister were living at my Grandparent's place to save money for a house. He and I still play - presently, we have a game going on via email averaging a couple of moves per week.

I learned to play chess from my Dad. He's taught me since I was about 5-6. When he didn't teach me, I learned from a book about improving chess strategy.

One of my schoolteachers taught me around age 5. Yes, I was just a tad precocious. :-)

My Stepdad taught my sister and I how to play when I was about six. I only really started liking the game when I was about 17(I'm 20 at this point in time).
