Who Will Win Today?

Garry Kasparov is out to a quick 2-0 lead, will Anatoly Karpov come back today with a win or at least a draw?
What do you think, make a prediction?

I'm wondering if Kasparov is really crunching Karpov in game after game that he will ease up and let him draw a few. After all, Kaspy probably appreciates Anatoly giving a visit to him when he was in detention. He would have some compassion for him, and maybe could put aside the competitive part of him.

Otherwise I expect the slaughter to continue, with maybe a few draws.

I wonder why Karpov hasn't held his strength. Isn't he an intuitive player? And aren't they (like Smyslov) more capable of playing strongly in that style longer than the calculators? So I've read over the years anyway.

I really see this as being a continued blowout but goldendog has an interesting point that perhaps Kasparov will show some mercy.  It'll be interesting for me to see if this happens.  I doubt many top players would enjoy crushing a legend like Karpov game after game, especially since he's passed his prime.  Especially in an exhibition like this.

Do someone have a link to the site where you can watch the match on webcam and listen to live commentary?

Well, I belive Kasparov's going to win at least one of the games today... the other could be a draw. From the start, I held the belief that Karpov would be crushed, and I hold to this prediction. Moving on to the Blitz... Who knows? I feel Kasparov will have the overall win, but Karpov may get a few wins off of him in the Blitz.

Simendo, it's http://www.gva.es/ajedrez/ei_ajedrez_en.htm

It seems that video is working fine today. If you use FF, make sure you have installed WMP11 (you may need to install it manually - download, close FF, setup WMP11, then restart FF)

It's starting now.

Make sure to check the analysis at chess.com after the games, too, at chess.com/tv

No, it starts at 1:00PM EST and there was about a 12-minute delay yesterday
until the first moves were posted.

Thanks guys, looks like I have everything working then.  And I even have time to make a sandwich before this legendary game begins. Smile

They are now (19:03 CEST) at move #13 of the first game.

Avatar of Harrr

First game, Kasparov plays as Black, move #14. He seems in a good position, but keeps shaking nervously his head every 30 sec...

Avatar of Harrr

Move #17, Karpov leads. Last move, 17. Na3

Karpov just won the first blitz game...3-1 Kasparov.

WOW!  What a game, my prediction was way off it seems.

I didn't see any video of the actual event, only the 2D board on the site and the audio commentary.  Am I missing something?

Anyway that was very exciting, the commentators got really riled up towards the end clearly rooting for Karpov to make a match of this and it all made for great entertainment.

Yeah, the video was way too slow, so I just switched to audio only. It was definitely getting very tense towards the end there.
