...Wholesale Chess Collector Series vs. HOS Collector Series

I've seen a number of comments re the HOS Collector Series. A number of respondants noted that there have been quality issues.

Is HOS Collector Series still having this issues?

Wholesale Chess sells it's own Collector Series. I have not seen any comments re this set.

Can anyone share their experience with Wholesale Chess' Collector Series?

Can anyone compare the two?

Many thanks

Looks like Wholesale Chess carries some of the HOS line. Check them out.

I have ordered 3.75" Collector chess set from Wholesalechess, and they have arrived at my local post office. I will pick them up on tuesday. I hope there won't be any issues with them. It's red and natural set. It's a beautiful set judging by the photos on their site.

I just ordered the 3.75" from wholesalechess recently and I have had quality control issues.

What do you mean by quality control issues? Did you recieve damaged pieces?

Bad shape, glue seeping out, marks on the pieces.

I have just seen my Collector pieces that I bought from Wholesalechess and I must say that several pieces are severely defective. I'll post some photos tomorrow so everybody can see. Buying this set was a big disappointment for me. The knights and the queens have major manufacturing defects. I thought wholesalechess was a reputable company, but I most certainly won't buy anything from them in the future.

Well, I just saw that they have replacement chess piece policy so hopefully they will send me replacement pieces. That is my only hope.

Overall the set does look nice:null

but upon closer inspection one can notice a lot of imperfections and defects. The mane on the back of the knights looks awful:nullnull

nullBoth red queens have crowns that look like the were almost cut off with something. The white queens look just fine:

Kings look ok:null

One red rook has slight imperfection at the top which is visible on this photo:null

All of the pawns look ok apart from very visible mold lines, especeialy on the red pieces which really makes the set look like a cheaper one ( it is important to be aware of that this set cost me 69 bucks with shipping. For that kind of money for plastic pieces I do have the right to expect more than what I got)null

Two more photos of the knights:null

I intend to contact wholesalechess and ask them for replacement pieces so we will see if the are willing to resolve this problem.
