I played a guy (paid member) that had played about 2k games and was rated under 1200 with very few time outs. Perhaps time to rethink the hobby?
I played Aniko, a Hungarian who was the closest rival to Awardchess for the most simultaneous games. Some people said that she does actually engage in light conversation, but she didn't respond to me.

Why rethink their hobby? Perhaps they love the game and love playing, and dont care or get caught up in what their rating is? Their is a guy in sacramento that is i his 60's and for the 30+ years that ihave known him he has always pretty much been a 1200 player. But he loves the game, and loves teaching chess to kids. He truely is someone that gets chess and gets the most out of it.

A friend and I used to play chess regularly. To be hospitable, the host would offer refreshments. We were pretty even early in the course of refreshments, but as we got further along he just destroyed me.

She won the next ten. I resigned many 'cause I had to pee. She called it "en passant."
I kept getting confused about the horsey thing. I think she made up that "castling" thing too. That can't be a real move.
And also, after each game she would say "gg." What the heck does that mean? I thought she was choking.
I may have made this up....nevermind.
I consider it vulgar to play under the influence of no alcohol.
