Looking at the live chess times:
1) I don't even see an option for a 15 minute game
2) There are options for games over 15 minutes
3) There is a custom option so you can set any time
4) Your most recently completed live game was a 30 | 0 game

Yes but is not offered in tournament play. What you are showing is the time control options for a single head to head game. What they offer under the tournament header is different, 15 min +10s increment is what they call standard time and is the slowest control offered.
Oh, I didn't know that!
Hmm, maybe they think if they offered too many different tournaments, then not enough people would join? So they only offer the most popular? (As you noticed speed games are very popular online).
1.People do not have time for such long games
2.A good tournament would need atleast 4 rounds. Thats about 4 hours of your day that you are starting at a computer screen
3.Many people, if they are losing, will stop playing and wait for your time to run out
4.If people want to play longer time controlled games, they can go to an actuall over the board tournament
5.Because they would take so long, and not many people would be interested, they would probably only run about one or two a day, and you might miss your chance.
6. 15 10 is already a long time. It is good to learn how to spend your time wisely and be focused on the game with the time you have, anyways.
I do like playing slower games occasionally, but I think these are some of the reasons chess.com has decided against it.
There are some groups out there you can join to play long time controls. I know one is on ICC, but I think another is on FICS. And I'm sure there are some groups on chess.com somewhere...
Or if not maybe start your own. If you get a few players together who are willing to play tournament length games online you could use each other for practice.
Ok it's seriously time for a clock rate exceeding 15 mins in L ive tournament play. Really what gives, how can you maximize your potential, or avoid the automaton reflex with a 15 min game. Often, very forking often, members of this CHESS website I in turn face as opponents will become impatient after waiting a few minutes, letting me know their sentiments via chat...ok. I am not a master, yet, but I remember being told that thinking was a major part of the game. Anyways, it's even a little ridiculous to have to request this but pretty please with a cherry queen on top can those of us who actually love this game have a time cadence appropriate for chess in live tournament play cause 15 mins as the slowest rate is a let down, as most things premature are.
