Why am i bad at blitz?

Ok, i am bad in all three time controls but for some reason my blitz is way behind both my rapid(long) time controls and my bullet. My bullet is 1630(was 1690 a few days back RIP rating), my slow rating is around 1660 but my blitz does not even touch 1500 often.

Any particular reasons as to why someone can be much worse at blitz than both in bullet and rapid? I can't think of any good reasons. For some reason i miss some stuff in blitz a LOT more than i miss them in rapid or bullet

People' blitz ratings are generally 300 points below rapid. So I don't think so there's any problem .

Same with me. My blitz is about 200 points behind my other ratings. Here's my theory: Rapid and Daily give you enough time to really think everything through, and make the best moves to your current ability. Bullet doesn't always rely on skill, and you can often get by just by making decent and fast moves. However, Blitz is in between. It doesn't give you enough time to think everything through completely, but it's not short enough to win only by making really quick moves. That's probably why lots of people, including me, are worse at blitz. You have to train yourself to think accurately and quick at the same time.

You're much better at Chess than I am, but my advice to you is this: in blitz, you have time to calculate. You have time to make positional and tactical observations. I too fall victim to playing the game of beating the clock, but I find I play my most comfortable blitz games when I focus on winning the game on the board and letting the opponent hang themselves trying to play fast.

Mine too. Once upon a time I was a blitz expert. (Not expert than Magnus) But now, I am just 600 in blitz

Try to blitz out the opening if you know it pretty well, but take pause when you reach a position that you're not familiar with. A lot of the time if you're not familiar with the position, your opponent may have made an inaccuracy. You must exploit it and earn yourself a point. happy.png You'll get plenty strong at chess, keep playing!
