Maybe you let that timer get in the way? I know I do.
Why am I worse in Tactics Trainer compared to actual games.

The 3 main reasons it adversely affects me and likely you also are as follows:
1) the timer
2)The fact that you don't have the benefit of seeing the position unfold. Knowing what to be looking for ahead of time will help you not to waste your time or get tunnel vision. I miss quiet pieces over in the corner all of the time in TT puzzles, that I am well aware of in games.
3) You will play to your strengths in games and also stick to openings and positions you are familiar with. Many of the puzzles in the tactics trainer are from higher levels of play, where mediocre and beginner play doesn't give someone a good foundation for doing well to begin with.
I'm currently about 950 tactics trainer, and what I want to know is does it get any harder? Right now its just mates in 2 or 1, and hanging pieces. Maybe a skewer or fork. Its annoying, and I want it to get harder.

Oh yeah, much harder..
for example, if you look for the link to view the puzzles, you can view the highest rated and attempt it unrated...or any of them for that matter

2 years back my rating is lower than u. I was also getting same problems like u.that time i never played tactical games.then i study some tactical motifs from chess books and i see my rating improvement. when u r going to make a move always start creating tactical position. i suggest u to play Long games and analyze ur game.

here's a thought, my live blitz live rating is approx. 1100 and my tactics trainer rating is approx. 1450

@jbomber732 You talk like there's no way for you to get a higher rating in TT and your stuck doing easy ones for a while. If you want the tactics to get harder, then you've got to get right the tactical puzzles you're doing at your level. What's the point of them getting harder if you can't complete ones at your current level?

If you can't find tactics when you know there are tactics to look for, then you wont find the same tactics when you don't know there are tactics to look for
ergo, logically your tactics rating should be higher than your chess ratings and I think this is the case for most people

That's just how it works with me. I'm not most people.

No, ratings are a relative measure, even with tactics trainer.

You may be better at your games' tactics, than tactics trainer puzzles, since there may not be the same incentive for you to solve tactics perfectly, as there is for you to win. The learning is what many people are interested in and not the high tactics trainer rating. Also, having more time and getting to watch the moves unfold, so that you have a better idea, after a move is made, what you should be looking for or trying to accomplish, can make your games easier than tactics.
It also should be considered that some people may be better tactically, but play strategically or positionally weak moves that cost them games. If you tend to play fast games mostly, this is probably truer than for those who play longer time controls. It is also entirely possible that people with higher tactics trainer ratings than their regular rating, either don't take their games here seriously, or could even get cheated more frequently than those in other rating ranges. After considering all of these factors, I don't think it is good to put too much stock into concrete assertions about how to view other players, or to let how other players view you, to be a concern. Maybe some people sandbag at tactics and want you to think they suck... ?

My Game-Rating is also better than my TT-Rating.
I think this has mostly to do with me studying a strategy-book.
It teaches about the ideas to follow in seemingly quite positions. It doesn't help a whole lot with calculation let alone patter-recognition though.

One thing you could to is get familiar with the patterns in tactics trainer instead of finding them in tactics trainer. Check out the "Basic checkmates" video series by Danny Rensch. Once you get familiar with a pattern, it should be much easier to find in games and in tactics trainer.

hmmm Chess.com says tactics are 99.9% of chess
That's funny, most positions lack a tactical blow. In fact most positions are equal but not drawn, though still drawn with best play endgames ^_^

The checkmates that are in my puzzles, I don't miss in real games, but miss them in tactics trainer. I already find them well in actual games.

In an actual game, I would find the same tactics that I don't find on the actual trainer. My rating is somewhere around 900 vs. on live chess, its around 1100. In other words, I am good at tactics in an actual game, but miss them when i am on tactics trainer.
I guess in an actual game you have seen all pieces on the board because you have played the board for a long time before a tactic arrives.
in tactic trainer you look at the board for the first time all the time thus having to look at the whole board before making a decision. it is easy just to look at a certain part of the board that deals with attack and forget king safety.
in an actual game you would always think of king safety first before attacking and have a pretty good idea of where all your opponents attacking pieces are.

I usually can solve a TT problem in one try using tags, after I failed it...
