You obviously don’t like the site, from what I’ve read at least, so just leave and go to a different site. Stop being a baby about it. You paid money? Too bad, that was your choice. You don’t wanna have this conversation anymore? Just stop talking here. Go to a different site for all I care lmao.

I will after my sub runs out.  and Ya, too bad...   Lets keep having the conversation for the next 10 months.

With a statement like that, the only troll I see here is you.

same could be said of you, right?

No...because I like the site and the people on it? And I *just* joined this conversation and haven’t been arguing for days?

yeah, that seemed pretty random

so I am guessing coolout didn’t try my suggestion of learning, and instead wants to continue winning here like a privileged child. Ok.

Why? Aren't they basically smurfing and making multiple accounts? Plus, they have the same effect which smurfing does. It messes up the rating pools.

I got muted and my internet knocked offline for an hour saying this very same thing.   The problem that this streamers are allowed to do this is the fact they are making it fashionable and thousands are probably doing the same thing because of them.    Its especially noticable for below 800 low rated players like myself.   The ratings seem to be pointless.

everyone who plays them after the speedrun gets their rating refunded

I have a hard time believing that.  And regardless people still get robbed of a competitive match and its not what they signed up to the site for.   Also it makes it fashionable among their fans who will imitate them unofficially exacerbating an already evident problem of multiple accounts and sandbagging.   it literally breeds sociopaths among children and teaches them poor sportsmanship.  Teaches them that ratings are more important the competitive matches and love of the game.

how?

how do you have a hard time believing it, its site sponsored, they have no incentive to not, especially its extremely easy, yeah A competitive match, count that in with the hundreds of cheaters and sandbaggers and salty people, and the over rated people yeah out of that one streamer can really cause a difference, im not saying its good but it outweighs a few games, why would fans speedrun??? just because it  seems cool? i dont think any of the fans have the capabiity, they are prob like 100 rated, i dont think 2000 rated would watch speedrunners or very less of them, and even so thats a different issue and alting is alreadya thing, how does it breed sociopaths, its not poor sportsmanship if its a category, ladders already exist and people who smurf might now not smurf and instead ladder which is an improvement from hard smurfing, how is it rating more important, its just a benchmark in which you WIN games and how fast you can win the game without loosing, which is how agressive you are which is fun to watch, without it chess would pretty much be dead

Coolout, please point out where I said “git gud”. I said you could learn, and I specifically pointed out Robert Ramirez speed runs, where I also learned stuff.

If you took the time, you could learn and benefit from the speed runs. You are the target audience for the speed runs from Robert Ramirez and probably a lot of others.

I would never say “git gud” for the speedruns. For many reasons, one of which is because you aren’t going to play in any of them. there are thousands upon thousands of players. Just a few speed runs. it’s like winning a lottery.
Avatar of Ubik42
anyway, go look them up. I promise you you will learn from them. No joke.

Usually the immature response from children is "git gud"  when someone demands fair play.   The self entitled think they are privileged to tier slum and rob unsuspecting players of competitive matches who didn't pay for the privilege of being subjected to that.   Saying the points are returned is not ample compensation and I don't even trust that actually happens most of the time.    These forums seem to be filled with children and its lord of the flies on this website.  Absolutely disgusting.

Smh. My point was instead of complaining, you could be improving.

You are tossing around the word semantics a lot, I guess it’s a fancy way of admitting I didn’t say “git gud”.

Maybe you can learn more from books. Maybe not. Or maybe there is stuff you can get from the books but not the master vs amateur speed runs and vice versa.

I have more books than I care to admit, but I learned things from the speed runs, and my rating is higher than yours so I daresay you would learn also.
Avatar of Ubik42
“Git gud” would be “Get good enough so the masters cannot beat you”, which I plainly never said.

I said you could learn FROM the masters and their games. Just like I did.

See the difference?
Avatar of Ubik42
Now, I am going to bet you never tried.

I am also going to bet you have never dug into the books you are talking about.

Can you name a book and what you learned from it?
Avatar of Ubik42
and yes coolout I have seen the phrase used many times so I know what it means specifically.

Are void ships causing you a problem aim Starcraft? Or a zerg rush? Well , git gud.

I never said that. And clearly the analogy here is “good enough so the speed runs don’t affect you”. Never implied it, in fact I implied the opposite, that you would never be a speedrun. Too many players.

What I said was looking at the speed run games can improve you, particularly at your level. I still say that.

Try Robert Ramirez, look at his czech pirc videos to learn it, then watch him playing it in the speed runs.

$5 says you will win at least one game directly as a result of doing that.
Avatar of Ubik42
So, I guess that is a no to my suggestion for improvement?
Avatar of Ubik42
Snarky is fun, and usually when I try to be helpful it backfires anyway.
Avatar of Ubik42
I can tell which coolout is which. And one coolout is cooler than the other.

How many chess books do I own….omg. I own a Benko gambit book from Pal Benko. I bet you can’t buy it today.
