I have recently started playing on chess.com, so i play against lower level bots. I have noticed that there is a fatal flaw in the bots, 700 is not very good but it is also not stupid, right? Sometimes i get into a situation where it is a good idea to sacrifice my horse to get a better piece from the bot, and when i do that, it often doesn't take my horse and just lets me take many more of the bot's valuable pieces. Is it supposed to do that? It seems pretty weird as the game lasts like 2 minutes because of this.
Yes. The low level bots often make silly mistakes.
I think it is difficult to program them to really play at a precise rating level.
