since someone talked about jews.. i wanna ask about something (no racism intended) why there is no black gm's around? i only know maurice from chess.com live broadcasts..
for every 3 female coaches, you should be able to find about 3000 male ones, so the chance of doing a bit better with a male coach is not at all bad.
It is because many girls start playing chess when they are children, and when they get to high school, they drop out because they won't be "cool" if they play chess.
i think everyone is tiptoeing around the central point anf that is that women's brains are not as equipped with the same amount of the type of intelligence required to become great at chess. obviously iq is an extremely broad term and there are many subcategories, some of which women may or may not have more "iq points" than men. and as Mr. Polgar proved, even women can become great at chess, though it will be more difficult as shown by the amount of women in the top 50, namely, zero. but its no use pretending men and women brains are similar or equal, the facts speak for themselves. (by calling them inequal i didnt mean inferior. just different) if anything i said was politicaly incorrect, quite frankly i tried my best, but at this point i no longer care
My take is in line with Johnny B’s, that boys are conditioned to be more competitive, leading to obsessing about the game, and at higher levels you get a bunch of hyper competitive boys and men, most of whom are socially awkward, and it drives girls away.
I certainly don’t believe, as Nigel Short or Bobby Fischer, or some in here, that men are just better at chess. That’s silly.
And the notion that Judit is good because she’s Jewish, get out of here with that jazz.
nobody can make you learn, you need to be willing to learn from them with a bit of effort on your part.
