"Its not easy, I make a lot of mistakes, but I LOOOOVE me some chess."
Same here.
I try to manage how many games I am playing so I can stay involved in them, sometimes though (like right now) a lot of long running tournaments all seem to drop at once. 100 games?? Jeesh.
I top out when I first started with around 60+ games...that was intense...I feel like I ldo love chess, but Ilove other things as well so a balance must be created...I have learned that around 20 games is just about perfect...depending on my opponents...sometimes its a little slow if they aren't making moves and sometimes its perfect. With other interests and a family its hard to gamble and take on too many games.
"And sometimes when I wind up with a lot of games, it starts to feel like work... not fun at all."
I am right now at this point but have been slowly moving back towards the green area. Once I hit 20 games and went above it becomes a job that takes up an inordinary amount of your spare time. Unless you don't mind losing then this wouldn't matter. Which in turn begs the question: "Why does someone play if not to win or improve the game?" I am looking forward to hitting 10 games again.
I was blackmailed and my life was threatened, that is why I joined.
and I hate me some chess :) jk I love it
(when I had more than 10 games going at once I would have chess nightmares. Now I just stick with live chess.)
I'm here because I like to play chess but don't know many people IRL who play. Or, some of the people I know who play don't live here. So this site is a place where I can play them or random people.
But I don't think I'm going to ever want to play more than a few games at a time. If chess ever started to feel like work to me then I'd have to back off a bit.
That's true, sometimes you feel a litle tired and then mistakes come frequently, anyway I think too many games (how many?) is not healthy neither. You can see the young FM Kacper, from Poland, he is running now 418 games !
This is about an attitude check for me. I know I want to win every game, just like everyone else. And sometimes when I wind up with a lot of games, it starts to feel like work... not fun at all.
I was playing someone recently who had over 100 games going, and I asked him, how can you stand having that many games at once?
He said, "Its not easy, I make a lot of mistakes, but I LOOOOVE me some chess."
Yes, that's it. Perfect. That's going to stay in my head even when I'm getting my head handed to me.
