Why are you only allowed to change your username once?

In my opinion this rule should be removed cuz it can be really inconvenient

Trolls already get one free "reset", no need to give them the ability to change their usernames at will.

It is easy to troll people by changing using name.

I trolled people by impersonating someone's else user name. Then I realised that I cant switch back to my own name and I had to ask mods. sad.png

This rule makes little sense. I don't care if "they're someone else." I don't know who the users are now.  Rating and record remains intact. Who cares if the name changes.?

I think this rule should not be here and we should always be free to change our usernames!

Imagine everyone in their world changes names...

Hmmm...who is who?

I changed my username, since I think it auto-filled, and it set my name, first and last, with no spaces, as my username by default. My guess as to why this rule is applied is to keep tabs on users who are violating policies, but really, you could simply give each user a unique ID in this case and enable the ability to change usernames. This may already be in use, anyways, so why not? This especially is important to people who simply don't like their current username, and want to change it without hassle and waiting. Based on what I've read, though, apparently it's so people can't troll others by changing their username, but I don't really see how that would work. The rating would remain the same for the player, and the other user would know something's up pretty quickly and probably already know what's going on at that point. It would be annoying, but ignorable for the most part.

If someone writes in a ticket regarding somerandomuser it may not be obvious who that is just based on the username if it's someone that happened to change their name a lot. I think the site may track username changes so support can figure that out now, but don't think that was always the case.

If possible I would love if I could possibly change my username. I've already rebranded my profile picture and would like to change my username to one of these three names (1st from most requested to 3rd least requested).

Having a username is your online identity. It's reasonable for people to want to express themselves freely. Imagine being told you can only change your clothes once. It's a draconian rule that some may feel is personally oppressive.

bork_bork_mf

does anyone know how long it normally takes for support to change your username?
