Why can't you move your Queen like a Knight?
Sort:
People say you can move your Queen, like the Bishop, Pawn, Rook etc. But what about the Knight?
If the Queen also had the power of a knight it would be able to force checkmate unaided. But worse, it would destroy chess as a worthwhile game.
If you want to move your Queen like a Knight you'll need to go visit the Chess-Variant characters. They play (games like this) which has a Chancellor (Rook + Knight) and a Hawk (jumps around in diagonal directions).

The king should be able to move like a knight and a king.
I agree! Or it would be fun if a friendly knight is allowed to jump next to the king, and then the knight and king can then jump together safely by a knight's move.
But this is the General Chess forum (not Chess Variants) so if we keep talking about it here the Moderators might bust us!

I heard somewhere that in Russia in the 18th century the Queen had the option of moving like a Knight, but I don't remember the source. I'm serious.

Imagine the queen in the middle of a 5x5 board.
All the squares she isn't attacking are all the square a knight could move to.
I.e. their movements compliment each other. Makes for a more interesting game.
Because it travels at the speed of light, i wanna make a supersonic woman of you. :)
The queen would be too overpowered for the game
