why chess is so addictive

when i start playing chess 2 or 3 hours pass like minutes specially in 1 minute chess u can play continuously whole day ...why we never get bored from chess....in most of my games i play same opening same moves still just want to play one game after another .... no improvement not much thinking still why mind is not rejecting can anyone please explain physocolgical aspects of this.(also my exams are coming and I am not able to study ..please help how can i manage both or should i completely block chess)

Yep. My exams are nearing too and I too can't focus on studies due to chess!

You're just procrastinating.  School work is more important, exams are coming and yet you continue to play chess.  Yeah I think you have to kick yourself in the butt and just stop for awhile.  Once you've proven to yourself that you can do without it, then you can reintroduce it to your life but gradually and with limits.  If you can't control it, then maybe you'll need to give it up altogether until you get through school.  Pretty much the same as any addiction.  You acknowledge it and gain control through the acknowledgement.  Some alcoholics can eventually transition to social drinking, some can't.  Same with you.  Please don't screw up your future over a game.  And no, I'm not a trained therapist (although I may have spent some time hanging out with them Embarassed Laughing).
