It definitely took a turn. I was stating facts about booby Fischer and here comes the anti Trump posts and the...I don't like him he must be racist!!
The best part is we were talking about Fischer and Trump and Biden...all white guys but I get called racist 😆

I was thinking the same thing. Dismissing the articles without reading them is the sign of a person with an agenda and no desire for edification. Larry Evans openly criticized Fischer in his chess column for his match demands (which weren't really unique or unreasonable). Fischer and Evans were close in the late 1950s-early 60s but I think that cooled off. I've always felt, justifiably or not, that Evans, who was the up and coming golden boy in the early 1950s might have resented Fischer who knocked him off that pedestal and took his spot in the limelight.
We were talking about Fischer running away like a coward. Larry Evans take is irrelevant. Larry was his friend. He would obviously hold back.

When Fischer was making demands before the 1972 match with Spassky, Reuben Fine (psychologist and world class chess player) who knew the young Fischer, predicted that if Bobby won he'd never play again because he'd built himself up in his own mind as the greatest ever and couldn't risk the possibility of losing and being proved wrong. He'd built his whole persona around his chess greatness and couldn't take the chance of defeat.

Bobby was psychologically unstable and had poor social etiquette. Once at a dinner party, his hosts surprised him by getting him some of the restaurant's best cake on his birthday, but he rejected the offer saying that he didn't like celebrating.
Bobby was a hopeless romantic. One of his former trainers commented that "Robert would stare at pretty girls all the time but he was too scared to ever talk to them". That fear continued into his adulthood and he became a very angry and frustrated young man.
This manifested in himself a bitter sexist attitude when he was later quoted as saying that all women are weak at chess and generally un-intelligent.
