why did bobby Fischer quit chess?

Fischer was a genius atvthe height of his powers but there is a fine line between OK and Madness, Fischer quit chess because of two reasons, 1.) He couldn't comprehend the thought of losing his crown so decided to not play again!? 2.) He was close to a mental meltdown, his second and closest friend Larry Evans admitted his concerns over Fischer hearing voices from his T.V. if that's not a sign your going off the rails what is?!!

Morphy quit because he had beaten Europe’s best and had no more worlds to conquer.

Fine quit because he was a financial pragmatist and knew (since the US doesn’t subsidize chess players) he had to earn a living.

……And we will probably never know why Fischer really quit, though I suspect part of it was that he reached his ultimate goal and detested the concept of failure, even potential failure.

Morphy didn't quit, he never had any intention of being a chess player. He got his law degree when he was too young to take the bar exam in Louisiana, so he took his friends' advice and went to the first US chess championship, won so convincingly that he decided to go to Europe to play the world's top players, and came home when it was time to to start his legal career. He always admitted that chess was not a proper career for a gentleman and never intended to keep playing seriously once he had worthwhile work to do.

No it is because of the unfair rules when he was playing chess with top russian grandmasters in Russia.

Guys there is a simple reason he quit. He was mentally ill. He lost a game against a cocky opponent and he quit from rage and mentally illness.
