So you used to call your teachers by their first name?

because its normal to refer to people by their last names in the context of professional relationships that aren't personal.

Does it really matter though? I mean, its all preferences, right? At the end of the day, its their name, and it really just matters whether they prefer their last name, first name, or just don't care and are fine with either.

It's the same with sports in general, it's just easier to identify because surnames are less shared than forenames.

True. True. But is this post suppose to mean in general, or just in certain sports or places

My pet peeve is when I walk into a store and the greeter says "welcome in!" Whoever started "welcome in!" should be sterilized. This is followed closely by my hatred of "what can I get you started with?" In a restaurant setting. Stop....just stop.

What DOes this HAVe to Do With NAMES?

And if It doesn't have to be relevent, my pet peeve is people eating with their mouths open. It makes their lips smack together, and just bothers me. Yes if Your eating popcorn thats fine. But its like hearing the inside of their mouth through a microphone. Yuck.

it's true, if you ask people on the street who are "fans" of Messi what his first name is, I think it would be surprising how many wouldn't know it was Lionel.

How did he win. I could have moved my king, but it said no. You lose.

Avatar of Evanloveschess2010

I could have moved king to h1. But it just said he won instead

Actually we should call them GM Anand GM Kasparov etc. GM is dropped for some reason.

What really rubs me the wrong way is when people wildly mix using first and family names.

Like "IM Rosen" but "GM Hikaru".
