Why do people cheat at low ELO levels?
My theory is that chess attracts a lot of fake intellectuals
These people are not actually interested in chess, they just want to seem smart by playing it
Because they just don't care about chess, they're not capable of beating a 900 rated player and need to cheat to beat them

So I got a notification from chess.com admins that one of my recent opponents has been suspended for cheating. I never reported it and I didn't suspect anything. I was just sent a notification that it had been flagged up.
This has happened a few times now. The first was about a year ago when I had not long started playing and I was around 300 ELO and it happened again recently at around the 900 ELO level (which is where I'm at now)
The thing that puzzles me is that if you have to cheat to beat a 300 ELO player or even a 900 ELO player then God help you LOL!
Seriously, if you want to win that badly then just get better at Chess.
I can sort of see why people are tempted to cheat in order to reach 2000+ ELO because that does indeed look very difficult to achieve by honest means and so I can see why the temptation would be greater. Not that it makes it ok but I can at least see why some people are tempted to do it.
But cheating to beat a 300 or an 800??? I mean why bother?
