lol i had this happen in a live game. all my opponent has is a knight and a bishop + 3 backward pawns, vs 2 passed pawns 2 rooks and a queen and he offers a draw, reject draw, then he waited until it timed out.

How do you have 3 backward pawns if one has only 3 pawns?

And why would you offer draw?

Thanks for reposting my entire post just to quibble and take a pot shot at me. I stand by exactly what I said.

I didint mean it that harshly. Its more quibble than pot shot.

They are just thinking to make sure the game is really lost.

They want to keep their rating up as long as possible either to attract higher rated players, or maybe just for vanity sake!

the researches show the amazing truth, that, "people who running back from failures are so warm in relationships and worry about aging. they are sweet in nature and sexy in look. they love their dress always and like to get free gifts from anyone."

to get their opponents to agree a draw/resign

HolyKing

Nope

I am amazed at how many losing games I have had turn into winning ones in 3 day chess. In fact, of my current games, at least 1 was a loss that is now winning for me and 1 was a dead draw. So I will play out most games until it is obvious that I will lose.

Your logic is only exceeded by your grasp of the English language.

I am playing with a guy who goes online almost everyday but doesnt play his game against me in which im winning. Bad news is time control is 14 days. Why do people do this?

At the risk of stating the obvious, next time pick a faster TL. People do it because they're rude and/or inconsiderate and/or who knows what else and who cares? Sometimes I drag losing games out but I usually play with a 3 or 5 day TL and I eventually get around to resigning way before my opponent has to mate me.

Oh yeah some peeps do it in the hope you'll abandon the game a not infrequent occurence here at least in my experience. I've had opponents forfeit games to me I was either losing or not able to win, and not because of anything I said or did - they just disappered on their own. I don't think it's unethical to drag out losing games although to me playing out every single lost game down to me getting mated ain't worth it to salvage a few games out of every 100 loses.

Finally, haven't you ever had an opponent bungle a won game vs you and ended up drawing or even winning instead?

Yes, that's exactly what I said.

Yes, but I told the story better.
