Why do players take so long?

I hate players like these. They just waste your time cause they take forever on moves. In this game https://www.chess.com/game/live/165283074940 i nearly tied cause my opponent was wasting my time and almost ran out of time but he checkmated me in the last 1/10 second. Why did he go so slow and make the game unfun for me? I shouldve tied.

Each of those double question marks is a move where your move significantly reduced your winning chances.

For example 30 Qxc6 left your rook on a5 hanging.

There is a technique that strong players use.

It is called thinking. It takes time.

Sometimes I played blitz games in bullet style too but it was not worth a new topic on the forum

If they want to take forever they shouldve chose rapid instead. I refuse to play rapid cause the games take to long. Over 10 minutes for a single match is a waste of time when i couldve done 2 matches in that time instead.
