play the following openings:

1. colle

2. exchange french

3. 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. Bc4?

why
i use blitz to practice openings and middle game postiions and tehse people just get in the way.

Why should they not play any opening they like? What if I told you not to play the openings you like, because it gets in my way?

Wild sense of entitlement...

Just resign all the people you don't feel like playing against. Your rating goes up fast if it becomes "Unnaturally" low.

At my level, a lot of players try to play the entire game using just the queen and one support piece. It gets boring playing against them so I just resign and let them enjoy the spoils of their scintillating play.

i lose most of my games cuz drinking and blitzing.

Because of your rate, it actually shows that practicing your opening is not what you need to improve your play right now.

If you wanna learn specific openings, you should keep an eye out for themed tournaments, I joined a few and learnt a little about some openings.  For the most part I don't have time to study chess though and just play what I feel is best, hence I've never been able to break the 2000 barrier.

my USCF rating is 1800+

i just move pieces around for the hell of it and try different positions in blitz. like the sicilian

and i do not have time to play anything longer than blitz, for the guy that suggested themed tournaments. even if its correspondence.

There is no kevin jensen rated 1800 in the uscf.  Are you using another name?

Avatar of vkappag

My name, and state are both false here.

I have same problem, my blitz rate is quite lower than slower games, so it's hard to test openings in blitz. Would be interesting to have a kind of league were all blitz player agree to practice openings, since blitz is mainly useful for that purpose.

Don't we have themed tournaments on here?  You know, where the opening moves (first three of the Lopez, for example) are pre-chosen.  I hope so, I was planning on entering into a bunch.

GMs play these openings too... maybe not so much the colle, but the Rossolimo Sicilian and the exchange French for sure.

I don't prefer the exchange french when I'm white in a tournament game, but whenever I do play it I have a tiny bit of hope my opponent is really annoyed or bored... I don't play it for a draw.

Exchange french gives equality, not necesarly drawish positions.

i dont bother playing slow games online.

id rather do that at my club where people will actually resign in a lost position, or you can do that too and go over a game instead of leaving you there for 30 minutes+ waiting for a win, and coming back to check if youre still there.

apparently people take internet chess rating seriously

Chess rating, and serious are 2 words i dont use together...unless the word not is inbetwen them.

Avatar of vkappag

unless youre rating is 2500+ and youre in your early teens gunning to be a top 10 player within the next couple years...

chess rating shouldnt matter.
