It's a lot like war and football.
There is a lot of strategy which I like.
When I was 7 years old my brother who was 18 at the time sat me on the dining table placed a chess board and then proceeded to put the pieces in their positions. I still remember how amazed I was by it. I remember looking at the two army's (that's how I saw it back then) face to face. As my brother taught me how to move the pieces I just couldn't take my eyes away from the board. I learned how to move the pieces then.....and I have been facsinated by the game ever since. Now, my brother and I had some rough times growing up.....but we always had our chess set to cheer us up. I have to admit, I never really became good at it......but I don't care, I still love the game and I might even go as far as to call it my only addiction.

I'm obsessed with chess which is kinda sad because I'm not very good at it.
I like chess because I win all the time.

I like chess because I do not know any better, and when I am playing, keeps me away from the casinos gambling and drinking....and away from wild (old Chics)......
Its very rewarding. If you put some time into it you can see how you get better.

I really love the "revelation" moment, when after thinking hard for a long time, slowly becoming nervous because you can't find anything good and your pieces are looking just like dead wood, suddently everything makes sense, the right move is in your mind and the plan looks logical and cristal clear. It happens rarely, you can win many games without feeling the slightest satisfation, but sometimes the win came in this way and you can barely wait to start the next game to feel the same thing again.
NFPlayer, that is also a reason. I always beat my brother.
Why are you assuming that all of us like chess?
Because we are all playing here on chess.com, and most people on this website would enjoy chess, Do they not?
Actually, I think most of us have played chess long enough to have developed a strong dislike for chess and all things associated with chess
Chess.com, why do you all like chess? What makes it fun to play? I'm sure that we all like to know. I like chess because there are so many possibilities that can happen. I also like it bacause of all the strategies that can occur in a single game. This makes chess seem amazing to me. I also love how there is not one exact way to play it. You can't just sit in a classroom and take notes; you really have to understand the concept of chess strategy and tactics. Post your comments, please.
