because it is fun
why do you play chess?
Kinda always played for fun, became a stronger hobby in High School. Use to compete, was somehow pretty good. Still not too great in quicker games
Originally, because it was fun and just complex enough to require problem solving skills that were often solvable. Today, at age 68 and retired, it also helps keep my mind sharp.
Because I got sick of Battlefield 1 and Clash Royal... and played when I was younger and picked it up again because my brother triggered me to. But I like tactics, planning and truly thinking. I believe it's needed in every game if you wonna be good at it but the benefit of Chess is I can choose a certain level of 'gamespeed' what you rarely can in most video games (online games)
