ego of course. Who doesn't want a gaurenteed crush?
Me.

I prefer Orange Crush.
I prefer ginger ale. Dr. Pepper is OK too.
All this talk about 'being challenged' is making me thirsty, but certainly not for that pesky juice from that pesky fruit which bears that pesky color I simply cannot see due to my pesky colorblindness...
i perfer water
you cant live by drinking Dr.Pepper can you?
But why would you want to live without Dr. Pepper?
actually, woodshover i read many of ur posts, and i wanted to see how good u were, and if i could help u get better.
If you had read my posts, you would know that I know very little about it.
I am a big fan of your posts.
Taking a look at your games, I see the problem. Playing against PrawnEatsPrawn (3 times!) would make almost anyone at this site feel like they had no talent for the game.
PrawnEatsPrawn's current rating is 2193 and ranked at 99.4%. That means that on average, only .6% of the chess.com population can beat this player.
You did show evidence of well played chess by beating a 1044 rated player in 26 moves by checkmate - and did it with the black pieces. Well done!

When I played Prawn, I hadn't ever played but a couple times before, and he had said he has played for about forty years, so of course I had no delusion that was I going to win. He just offered to play a couple of unrated games just to show me how. That 1044 rated guy I checkmated, GAVE his queen away.

I'm sure you know as well as I do, that there is no such color blindness that just affects orange.

...and I'm quite sure I allready informed you once, that I'd be happy to supply a note from my doctor, should you need actual proof. ;)
In fact, here it is:
Not true!! That is the reason that no one in the world (except a small, isolated civilization living along the Amazon) knows that the Dutch (my heritage), and therefore I, am Orange. I thought about going to Miami U, but could not blend in.
The only thing i can think f is that 1757 is teaching a young person how to play and showing that person how to strike offensively.
There are a lot of people who can play a lot better than you here. There are also a lot of people who play a lot worse. You need to quit going on about what a bad player you are, and just start playing! Improvement may not come quickly but it will come. Since you can't get your money back, give chess.com your best shot for a year. You may not see improvement overnight, but I bet at the end of the year you will see improvement.
Also, kudos to kid_of_chess for helping woodshover improve his game.
what's the problem if the player is a 1000 points below playing a person 1000 higher than them. I would see this as a good thing because the lower rated player can use the game as a learning experience and the higher rated player probably just wants a game of chess and besides ratting should be only concerned about when their playing in official ratted tournaments. when a player is in a section e.g Minors, Majors, challengers and masters if the player is barley in the section or barley under the appoved ratting standard
Not much of a learning experience. I don't learn a whole lot by playing someone rated 2400, I just see my pieces disappearing. Now when I play someone 300-400 points higher than me, then I can learn something because I sort of understand what they are doing.
