Why does all chess clothing look embarrassing

I got tired of chess merch looking embarrassing so I built my own brand.
But genuinely curious do other chess players even wear chess clothing or does it all just look too cringe? Everything I've found is either a school chess club shirt or a cheap tee with a chess piece on it.
Would you wear it if it actually looked good?
