Why does it feel so bad to win?

I resign when I have clearly won to make my opponents happy. I don't mind losing. It means very little to me.

People usually talk about how horrible it is to lose, often times they feel worthless, depressed. They feel like patzers. They are not humble enough to recognize losing is natural, and a good thing, it shows how humble you are.

Confused? Bare with me.

Everytime you lose, someone else wins, and everytime you win, someone else loses.

Losing is horrible, but once you realize your opponent is also a human, and he also lost a game, you start wondering what the meaning of life is.

Just as I realized this I felt bad, my heart stop beating, according to chess.com stats I had won 53 times, I had made people feel sad and depressed 53 times!
Im thinking on leaving chess or playing drawish openings whenever I can, I cant simply win, I feel bad after it.

Any tips? Chess is fun, but I dont want to make people lose nor play drawish openings.

Thanks.

I'll play you what's your score like most people on here my score does not reflect my skill as every time I sit to play man is that the best time to start talking to me. like now

If I ever win again, I'll let you know how it feels. smiles...

If you feel bad when winning, may be it helps to consider that you saved your opponent from having such a feeling?

OH MY GOD, TRUE THAT. Another good point of view dud.

This is so complicated now.

The psychiatrist Viktor Frankl, who survived Auschwitz, was good at tackling bad situations. When a man lost his wife and found life meaningless, Frankl said: "By living longer than her you are saving her from missing you and feeling life to be meaningless."

(This gave me the idea)

Thanks to Williams for bumping this thread.

So, if winning feels so bad, because I made my opponent sad, but when I let him win, he will also feel bad for me.

WHAT THE HELL SHOULD I DO TO SOLVE THIS PARADOX, HELP.

BronsteinPawn

LOL, THANKS MASTER OF THE HUMBILITIES, such an easy answer, yet a humble one.

Wish me luck guys, about to venture myself in this blitz thing. Hopefully I dont need to get a new laptop at the end of the day.

DAT BOI OUT.

MrFahrenKnight

You never learn anything from winning. I set my game to the highest opponent I can get my hands on. What can you learn from a win? I blitz when I'm bored. that goes all ways. although, I'm usually drunk. don't ask why I only play live chess drunk. I don't know the answer.
