why does my chess play fluctuate so much!!!

guys i was once rated 1600 on chess.com but now am rated 1360..sometimes i play good chess like up to a rating of 1550 then if i stay off the board for 3days i play worse than a player rated 1100..if i play for a week or more continuously i can play at a rate of 1460 maybe..but why so much inconsistency,why does may chess play fluctuate so much..??!!
