Why does Vidit have a red dot, but Prag has a white dot?

If you look at their foreheads, you will see Vidit has a red dot and Prag has a white dot. What is the difference?

The color.

But also possibly Vibhuti vs Bindi.

Yea, but I only see red dots online. There are a few that have three lines and the outer two are white, but Prag had a white dot which looked off center. I am wondering if the white signifies something different than red.

I see links posted, but I am not seeing the answer. On that site it shows, "The second type of forehead marking is the bindi, or dot, worn over the third eye by many Indian women, which shows whether they are married. Young, unmarried women wear a black bindi, and married women wear a bright red bindi. Widows, whose husbands have died, either wear no bindi, or wear a white dot made of ash. "

So, Prag is an Indian woman who is a widow? grin

It can also be a straight line covered by his hair. Verify the image if it's a dot on prag's head or a line. A line is usual and just a mark meaning the blessing of god after praying at a temple or at your own pooka room in house ( i think). Hope you find your answer

If your attention span can stand it, try reading the whole article.

edit: I see you probably did read the whole article but your reading comprehension needs practice. You obviously missed this from the article.

"There are two basic types of forehead markings. Religious tilak and bindi are worn by both Hindu women and men and indicate which sect, or branch, of Hinduism the wearer belongs to. There are four major sects of the Hindu religion, depending on which gods are worshipped most devoutly, and each sect is recognized by different types of forehead markings. "

WHAT PART OF WHAT YOU POSTED REFERS TO A WHITE DOT? Yes, I can see it refers to men and women. I was asking about the color. Are you sure YOUR reading comprehension is good enough to continue this conversation?

I was never at anytime disputing men wearing dots on their head. Otherwise, I would be questioning why Vidit had any dot on his head too. You see, now you have to use logic and reasoning skills to understand my question.

The simple thing is to say, "A white dot represents ____." The ONLY reference I found referring to a white dot had to do with women. That's not me saying only women, but again the ONLY THING SO FAR (SO FAR) is in reference to women.

DO YOU OR DO YOU NOT HAVE A SPECIFIC ANSWER PERTAINING TO A WHITE DOT ON THE HEAD WHICH WOULD INCLUDE PRAG?? IF SO, I WOULD LOVE TO READ ABOUT IT.

Try again. Look closely at Prag. You might notice he has a white line, not a dot.

Man, I get tired of spoon-feeding people information they can easily look up for themselves. And what's with the shouting? Are you trying to be obnoxious as well as helpless?

Pat_Zurr

White dot represent the white pieces. Red dot represents the black pieces. Red used to be the traditional piece color instead of black.

There was your big clue, and from your own mouth. Logic (which you seem big on) would have told you to take a second look at Prag. Instead you started shouting about this and that and generally made a fool of yourself.

Some kind of Indian custom for good luck ig. That's not a bindi for sure coz only women wear bindi. That's probably some kind of tilak.

On the forehead, between the two eyebrows, is a spot that has been considered as a major nerve point in the human body since ancient times in Hinduism. Tika or Tilak is believed to prevent the loss of “energy”, the red 'tika' between the eyebrows is said to retain energy in the human body and control the various levels of concentration. The colour varies between red, white and yellow which has their own significance.
On the other hand, women wearing it above the forehead means she is married. And the one with the centre is mostly bindi (Red dot sticker) to enhance their beauty. If they are wearing Tilak or Tika, then it has a similar religious significance.

This helps AlphaOne. But I would still like to know the significance of the colors.

I figured it was only a matter of time before one of the hundreds of Indians laughing at my shallow understanding logged in with better information.

Thanks

Does anyone know the significance? Prag seems to have one white line and Vidit a red dot.

Prag went to an Indian temple that is where you can pay money to offer stuff to the gods and then they give you a white dot on your forehead ( the white dot is for: so if the gods want to talk to you it helps them channel their powered and enter your body.
