It's not supposed to be a site for masters. Masters are welcomed
Why dont more masters/GM's use this site?

Sorry, I haven't followed all of the thread but I do think the site could make better use of the titled players here. Perhaps a GM could spot someone a knight. Someone under 1800. I'd like to see it and I think others would too. Why couldn't the titled players give simuls and the titled player with the best performance, at the end of the year, gets a big cash prize. Perhaps we could have a game between 4 or 5 of our popular posters and a master and listen to how they choose a move---or vaiations of that idea. There must be a 100 different and interesting ways this cite could utilize the titled players here. What about putting a titled player on the hot seat for a short period of time each week? Maybe, for a hour or two each week, we could have a titled player answering questions (filtered of course). No one wants to know what they eat or who they're dating etc., etc.
I'm sure many people have ideas on how to utilize the masters on this site---lets hear a few!
money
are you sure you want the owners to waste the money in that?

ICC is not the best place for players under 1200. I just placed a seek add for 600-900 (rated) and only 9 were eligible. When I placed a seek for 700-800, my blitz playing strength, only one was eligible.
I have far more opportunities to play with players of my playing strength at chess.com.

Well, its pretty obvious that most titled players dont hang around sites like this because of the stimulating chess conversation they get from guys like you and me---do you? Surely you couldn't be that egotistical!
What do they do now---an occasional article---an occasional forum post. Why not really use them? Of course I'm talking of the free members category. I realize we are the pawns on a site like this---but we could be promoted if the bait is enticing. What about simuls where the winners get a paid membership. I dont know about you pal but it would sure interest me. Why are you so worried about the site wasting money---are you an investor??
We can't not use it. If we want them to do something, they have a fee

People who writes articles here receive compensation for that.
And, for example, Nigel Short don't play in playchess just because he likes the site

ICC and then Playchess are long established. If they are happy with where they are, why move to a new site? 1. And as IM Cheap noted, the resources here are geared more to improving amateur players.
2. We should be thankful for the titled players who are here, and especially the way several of them, especially Natalia, are so generous with their time and ideas and interact. We should appreciate the opportunity!
1. I agree. Chess.com has great resources for the beginning/intermediate player.
For the beginning chess player - me.
I visit ICC for Dan Heisman's lectures. He also writes articles at chesscafe under the Novice Nook. My favorite beginning chess book right now is Elements of Positional Evaluation - How the Pieces Get Their Power by Dan Heisman - 4th Edition, Revised and Enlarged.
2. Amen.

Interesting to see how some users get defensive about this. The OP raises an interesting issue and develops it quite reasonably on his responses, but people insist to give the "Did you not notice the fact that there are more non-titled players than titled players" kind of answer.
Maybe a factor for the relative lack of widely known GMs is that the site is relatively new on the business and is disputing space with other sites that have been established for a long time. From the titled players' convenience perspective, why move from a community that you know that works and where most of your peers play? Chess.com may be right on the strategy of first bringing the average-strength mass to their venue and then use this volume as an advantage to attract more titled players. More average-strength players also means that they will have more money to pay for titled player's articles, enriching the site and again making it more attractive.
For such a young enterprise, Chess.com has already covered a lot of ground. Of course there are issues to be addressed, specially with Live Chess and dealing with cheating, but the site's development seems about right to me.
He (aj415) wasn't clear about what he wanted. Community incentives? Please explain this more. What features what be appealing to a titled player? Simuls, which let them beat up multiple ppl at a time? aj415, sorry, I don't quite understand what you want.
Hey buddy the topic is pretty clear in the thread title the suggestions I made are just exploring possible MEANS to that end this thread is about possibilities put on your thinking caps ! ...

Strictly speaking, only master/GM's that don't use this site (and hence haven't read this question) can answer it accurately. In what way, do you feel, would GMs modify the site - if they were here in greater quantity?
1) this is true.. lets get some more answers GM's.
2) Well I don't know but we can start with the one IM who responded implying improvements to the LIVE chess feature as well as more exclusive chess news to chess.com would move towards bringing in more advnaced players. Erik... the man around these parts.. responded to that post already.

Things master do on the net: 1) play blitz and bullet 2) read news
Everything else: forums, game explorer, chess mentor and so on are for mostly for club-level players. Well, maybe Tactics Trainer stands a chance, but very few people know about it.
1) Chess.com is improving in terms of live chess, but it will take a while to get recognition. 2) With only one news story per day (usually with no exclusive info, just basic stuff anyone can find on the net himself) it's hard to compete with leading chess news websites.
I am not criticizing Chess.com or saying it's bad. Just my take on the question asked by the topic-starter.
This is good perspective from a Master
They probably would get tired of 1,000 group invites and 10,000 chess game challenges every time they log in.
I would challenge them, just in the 1 in 1,000,000,000 chance that I could then brag "I beat a GM."
It is not as bad as it seems...
