Why draw???

It isn't. Don't matter if white or black to move, black wins. Can be a draw only if black is not careful and stalemate the white king.

Black ran out of time and can't win. White doesn't have sufficient material to mate so the best result possible is a draw.

I see that it does not show that time is over for the blacks. White has time left. The result is a draw. I do not understand why?

I also made a forum about soething very similar to this:

Black didnt time out. It said the game game had ended because of "insufficiant material"

I didn't disconnect. It is whites move. I know how to checkmate with 2 bishops

It is not the same. Black timed out in this game. As for you, I hope you contacted the support, I am very interested in their explanation for your game.

@OP

You were white in this game. Your opponent timed out. You can't win because you only have a king left, so you do not have a sufficient material to win this.

If you go to the info section of the game you will see that it says:

Game drawn by timeout vs insufficient material.

ah ok I made a presumption based off the fact that he said he didn't timeout

He was correct, he didn't, but his opponent did. OP had the white pieces. happy.png

Interestingly enough, after this game, OP had another draw just like this, but this time, he timed out and the opponent had only his king left.

It's a bug. It was confirmed by Martin Stahl in another thread.

Chess.com considers 2 bishops as "insufficient material".

Why? The staff tried to program to evaluate 2 bishops of the same color as a draw, and of course something went wrong.

but the really strange thing was that is didn't end the game as soon as I got 2 bishops It ended it a a few moves later

Yeah, I agree, I actually discarded this option in your game because you played with 2 bishops for a while. Really strange, and definitely a bigger issue than a single game.

That bug was fixed over the weekend as far as I'm aware.

I saw a few reports of the bug and only one happened when the material was reached. The others happened 5 ply later

Really interesting that the bug manifested itself in that way.
