why I do not pay for Chess.com and would rather not have messages asking me to Pay
How often do you get these messages? I get them very rarely. I barely notice the ads. For all that you get for free I don't mind. And I may buy a membership soon because I really like puzzle rush and the analysis functions. If it weren't for the paying members none of the free stuff would exist.
Isn't it normal for sites where you get something for absolutely nothing that you occasionally get messages asking if you want to become a member?
If you can already get everything that is offered on chess.com elsewhere then there's a very simple solution surely?
I am a paying member (platinum) and have been for years. Aside from the unlimited tactics and analysis, the puzzle rush, and the lessons, I enjoy knowing that I'm making it possible for this great chess site to exist.
There's no such thing as a free lunch, and I appreciate the incredible hard work that the site's developers have put into it. And it keeps improving--note the recent addition of Puzzle Battle.
This is also why I have a paid membership at chessgames.com. Over there, you get practically everything for free except Guess the Move, but, again, I make use of it enough that I feel sending a relatively small membership fee their way keeps them going.
you can get lessons on tactics openings ect at club and you can Run your finish Games throught Fritz Chess programs Ect why just few weeks ago we had a class at Club on Opening traps using d4 and a number of Blitz Comps so really there is no real insentive for me to pay. Message asking to pay I get one every 4 weeks. I understand some may not be able to get to club due to health and so on so sites like this are good for that.
Did you try to op out of the UK? Scotland should be independent.

sound like a bit of a tight a#$e tbf
You are just a “ free loader “ is it so painful to pay a few bucks, for the enjoyment you’re getting on this sire .
It's completely free. For the price of a message every 4 weeks you get a chess site with 10s of thousands of players in live chess at any given moment. Plus any other features you may or may not wish to make use of. It always amazes me how much people moan about something they get entirely for free. It's what modern society has become apparently. Same syndrome as loads of people tuning into twitch streams just because they are offering some free giveaways.

You use the chess servers. They cost money. People aren't charged for playing live chess so the servers, and all the other costs have to be funded by other methods, one of which is memberships. It's fine not to want to pay membership, but to get something entirely for free then moan about messages persuading you to become a member makes no sense at all. You can avoid the messages quite easily by never logging in.
Youre not playing here for "free"
You spend money on monthly internet fees.
You spent money on a laptop/desktop/phone/tablet to play.
You waste....I mean spend your time here.
And yet you want more....you must vote democrat.

Ouchh, perhaps Far Left is the right word, Mr IMBacon ![]()
I DISAGREE with the topic starter, it iz the site rights to send us any message, even a bigger internet company send me more messages than Cc, and they fairly explain me why they need the support. & I like messages, it make me feel like I have friends![]()
