This game is a prime example of why i dont castle its leave u at a severe weakness where the enem y simply has to move their rook down and they win

Where's the game? It sounds like you gave up control of a critical file so they could penetrate your position and get their rook on the 7th or 8th, a common thing to be achieved. I'm only 1500 but I'll give you my advice on castling.

Castling = KING SAFETY :)

If the centre is closed delay castling, you might have to castle long or short depending on the situation and position.

If the centre is open castle immediately.

I believe a fianchetto castled king is a weakness and when I become more experienced I'll prove it. The petruding pawn is a target. The king's knight might need to remain at the king's side since a common strategy I always see is to rip him open by a pawn storm in the opening. If you lose that bishop there is a major square weakness around your king. If the king makes it to the endgame these weaknesses dissapear.

I belive castling is a weakness becuse you cant move your rook away from that rank becuse when u do its mate if they move their rook down

You're *usually* better off to castle. As amiltion542 asked, where's the game?

Looking for new ways to avoid improving your game?

If it was truly a weakness, I'm sure it would not be one of the basic opening principles. Wink

i dont castle for king saftely. my king is basically a ninja and just kills any piece that tries to take him. However i dont want my rooks to feel left out of the glory of battle. its often really hard to get rooks operating on the center when your king is there.

If he's truly a ninja, they won't even notice he is there.Laughing

The weakness your talking about is a back rank mate. You can prevent it by moving the h pawn forward one (if you castle king side).

CASTLE OTHERWISE YOUR KING IS IN DANGER.

That's a funny thing. The last 4 games that Thomas9400 played, which went 24, 34, 28 and 48 moves, he castled. I think he's pulling our leg. I now bestow on him the honorary Foot in Mouth award.

YOu must have to wear some pretty thick gloves when you move him.

Sorry guys i feel stupid for not posting the game. i dont like castling becuse if you move a pawn up so the king can escape if attacked you lose lots of tempo. And i REALLYYYYY hate losing tempo

When u castle u have 2 options you can keep a rook on the back rank the whole game so he stays inactive or u cant move a pawn up losing all of your tempo

I think you have more serious issues there than losing a tempo.

10. Hanging piece

And generally too passive. With an opening like the one White used, you should be all over his king.
