She does not think follish things. She is trying to read her opponents' thought process.

I can't remember if it was round 3 or round 4, and the first match or the second against Anand, but Carlsen took a 10-second nap against Anand in the World Championship.

Either way, Carlsen won!  India is overrated - They are better at Spamming Chess.com forums than they are at chess.

Thriller you are overrated. You are not only plain stupid what most people think, no, you also have no clue of chess whatsoever.

Shut up douche - First off, you have no clue what you are talking about, and secondly, what the (BLEEP) does it have to do with falling asleep at the chess board, or any individual incident where falling asleep happened at the chess board?

Just shut your stupid pie hole and go to hell, Till_98

Well, what does India being overrated or not have to do with this post, either?  Or is stupid trolling just an American thing?

1. Your initial post was off-topic.

2. You should have expected your gratuitous insult toward Indian chess players to trigger some kind of offended response.

3. I won't tell you to "shut up douche", because the douche has a use. Not knowing you, I cannot attest to you having a use. Surprise us.

Till_98

You said India is overrated, I said you are overrated. Point. Your last post just showed again what kind of person you are and perfectly confirmed what I think of you.

Play speed chess tournaments only if you can fall asleep in blitz I dont know what to tell you. 40 90 can get boring that why I went out for a hot dog while my clock was running I was gone so long I only had 12 minutes left on my clock. I guess I was hoping he would fall asleep while I was gone lol no such luck he lodged an objection with the tournament director because I was never there so I come back he jumps up and yell I win you only have12 mminutes left on your clock I said hmmmm 12 sounds like a good number mate in twelve . I mate him in the next 12 moves in a little under 2 minutes. Then I said I still have ten minutes on my clock can I go get another hot dog with that he picked up the board threw it across the tournament room cursed and left. The moral of this story don't play frizzbe in chess tournament rooms? Or don't go out for lunch in night tournaments. He he

The match that involved the nap involved an Indian player, who by the way lost, despite the nap!  So yes, that match has everything to do with India (along with Norway).  They represented the match!

I, on the other hand, did not, nor did America!  Apparently the only problem with Americans is that they demand special lighting and playing conditions or else they quit, flee off to other countries that we have a ban with, get arrested, move to Iceland, and die!

Duracells last longer, try them.

Yes I am a funny guy. I tell jokes as well as play chess. But I can assure you the other players didn't find it as funny as I did. There really isn't any humor in chess. I think thats what they had in mind when they created the word stoic. It doesn't pertain to this chess player though. Good chessing to you all have a good day.

Till_98

Ups Sriller is mad.

TheOldReb

I had an IM opponent in Dos Hermanas 98  that kept falling asleep and I kept waking him up and offering him a draw !  He would refuse , make a move or 2 and go back to sleep !  LOL  Surprised

Does anyone know if they have chess tournaments in Mexico? They are known for taking sestas. Naps. If they do can you lodge an objection if your opponent snores during naptime? Ha ha that was funny the korcnoi thing.

Moriarty_697

I don't get the leap of logic where we go from a player losing a match to dismissing an entire nation as overrated, but that's just me.

Because tournament chess is objectively boring. You have to be extremely careful with every move and calculate all variations and countervariations to their absolute maximum. You have to check every single possible move and recheck many times to make sure what you're doing. What makes up for it is the competitive factor and the adrenaline there is to it.

Why do you think Kasparov, Fischer, Morphy and many others just gave it up but later still liked to analyze it? Because sitting in front of a board for hours and hours, not moving pieces around or looking at interesting positions or receiving instruction, can be boring. With blitz things are moving all the time... so it's TOO interesting and too addictive.

Tournament play may be the climax, but isn't really the funnest part at all, it's the preparation and the later analysis and post mortem. So it also should be limited just like blitz. There's no point in working out all those variations if your position is flawed from the start because of something you didn't know.
