Why is 1000 elo 80 percent percentile?

when I reached 1000 elo, it said 80 percent percentile,so that means 80 percent of people in chess.com are below 1000? no way.

Well just think on how many profiles there are that have been abandoned with no score or bellow 1000 on this site.

Yes, the vast majority of players are at or lower than 1000.

This is the Rapid leaderboard but ius similar for blitz
