Why is Anand the "People's Choice" all in a sudden?

I think it's just because he won this tournament his fans are voicing their opinions more. I'm not sure Anand or Carlsen are obvious 'people's favourites' that would probably be a more obviously attacking and risk taking player perhaps. Carlsen's support is partly because he is seen as a winner, and people like to back those who they think will win.

He just became world champion and already there claiming he's the greatest of all time. If you can hold onto the world championship for the next 15 years and stay the highest rated player for the next 19 years and go about the world promoting Chess. Then and only then I would consider him to be one of the greatest players of all time.
Well would you at least concede that Magnus Carlsen is the most handsome chess player of all time? In addition, would you also concede that it's just fantastic for the royal game to have such an in-demand fashion model as its world champ?
I thought I saw Steinitz doing an ad for a microbrewery not long ago.

Most handsome chess-player of all time? What about Garry Kasparov in his younger days say 1985 and even Bobby Fischer 1972. (What do I know I'm not a girl.) but I'll give Magnus that... lol :)

Anand will always have a massive no of supporters from India, which is quite natural.
There are probably many times more Anand backers than Carlsen backers in the world. Norway has a population of only five millions.
well I really enjoyed the last year's press conferences where anand was hilarious when getting angry, carlsen was just boring and didn't want to talk that much. Who could forget when anand said "doing your best means doing your best, i dont understand why you dont understand english" lol

Why did he say that (I didn't watch the press conferences)? Can you provide some of the context? Sounds like an interesting story.
People love to see "Jack kill The Giant"...I guess we want to believe that anything is possible...that we can beat the odds...that maybe we could to...
I feel like people just want a better match than last time. Another blowout would be a little dissapointing. Anand has nothing to lose now so it should be interesting.
