Why is chess a sport

Chess is a board game, like Scrabble.

At the professional level, it can be quite competitive and physically taxing (to sit and concentrate for hours). But it's still technically a board game.

Today, i will say that chess is definitely not a sport. I never saw it on Wide World of Sports. And they literally spanned the globe to find the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. There, that settles it once and for all.

Calling an apple red doesn't make it any less of a fruit than calling chess a board game makes it any less a sport.

What if the apple is made with plastic?

I am not mentioning about the apple that fell on the head of Issac Newton.

It was only because of an apple that made him live and helped him find out gravitational force.

If it was a big jackfruit that had fallen onto his head, he would have never found out gravitational force. And the story of us would have been different.grin.pngtongue.png

It's a sport on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays it's just a board game. As for Sundays, it's a sport in the morning and just a game after midday.

Chess should be recognised as a Sport by Sport England.
This can be done if Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Jeremy Wright and the English Chess Federation take action to get this actioned by Sport England.
In meantime, Mr Wright  please make a pledge and start to invest money to chess in England, to sponsor The English Chess Junior Academy, and help the best players with training and coaching and funding for international trips.
Please sign the petition, the more signatures, the better.

Bro Im sorry, but chess will never be a sport, no matter what. I consider it a competition, just not a sport.

You should take up a sport. Like Chess.

I’ve never heard a Chess board referred to as a “sports board.”  It is, was, and always will be a “game board.”  That said, Chess is a sport.

When playing video games (E-Sport) is considered a sport, than surly chess is too.

And I am not sure but I think thw word "sport" is a word for all type of competition.

Who gave the definition for the word "Meaning"?

It all depends on what the meaning of the word “is” is. (B.C.)

Actually, chess is a representation of actual war, and it is a very tactical game.
