Why is draw by repetition necessary?

It just makes it easy for players to get a quick mutually agreed draw or to force someone into a draw.

If someone tricks someone down a line where they can't make new moves that are good then that's their problem, they shouldn't have got into that position in the first place.  Simply outlaw continually repeating moves and say after so many repeats a new move must be played.

Some people are pretty good at playing for draws. As my rating began to rise, I started to encounter more opponents who did this. Some will simply resign when they are in a losing position. Others will make you beat them. Which helps your game by learning mating patterns.

You can also repeat the moves during decades if you play without a clock :)

The game could go on for an infinite amount of moves....................................................
